This class is a must for the beginning fly fisher. Learn the proper casting stroke from the beginning. The class is taught by Dave Sloan whose fly patterns are sold and used all over the world. He will teach you his advanced techniques in a relaxed and fun manner. This class is designed for the tier who has already completed the Beginning Fly Tying class or who has been tying for awhile. Learn many advanced techniques that will really improve your tying skills, the quality of the flies you tie and allow you to tie more flies per hour. Family Bluegill/Bass Clinic & BBQ
There is no better way to get kids started in fly fishing that on a beautiful private pond in Sutter Creek that is full of bluegill and bass. Kids and their parents learn the basics of fly fishing for panfish with the primary focus on having fun. We must insist that a parent or other responsible adult accompany their child. Introduction to Fly Fishing Class
This one-session introductory class helps shorten the learning curve by 12-18 months. We cover all aspects of fly-fishing. We familiarize our students with the equipment, rigging, knot tying, reading the water, entomology and much more. Sage Intermediate Spey Float Yuba River with Bill Lowe
Drift-boats will be used to access both river-right and river-left approaches as the students practice and enhance their spey-casting skills throughout the day. This is not an entry-level class but is designed as a spey fishing tune-up for an up-coming trip or for the angler who wants to further explore spey fishing with different rod-weights. Rod-weights of 6 through 8 will be available, as well as Rio Windcutter and Skagit spey lines. This 8-hour class is limited to no more than six casters so that you have the one-on-one attention that is needed to fully appreciate these incredible tools and Bill will provide customized instruction to improve your current spey casting skill level if you have prior experience. The American River offers countless opportunities to catch steelhead (and salmon) during the fall and winter months.
